In the Book of Genesis the Word of God says: (1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (2) The earth was empty, a formless mass cloaked in darkness. And the Spirit of God was hovering over its surface. (3) Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. (4) And God saw that it was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. (5) God called the light "day" and the darkness "night." Together these made up one day.
The Word of God says that the very first thing that God did was to create that heavens and the Earth. The second thing that God did was say, "Let there be light", and there was light. Can you see, that the very first thing that God wanted to do was to reveal things and to make things known. How many of us know, that once you turn on the light, things which were said and done in the dark, now become know to everyone? God does not operate in the dark. God does not operate in a hidden place. God wants you, and God wants me to know all about himself. If we are having a hard time hearing the Voice of God, it is not because he may not be speaking. If we are having a hard time hearing the Voice of God is may be because we are not listening.
The Voice of God spoke in the beginning, and he his voice has been echoing through the hallowed hall of time every since. God only needed to speak once, and his once speaking said it all.
In the Book of Ezekiel 16:6 the writer says: (6) "And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, 'Live!' Yes, I said to you in your blood, 'Live!' (7) I made you thrive like a plant in the field; and you grew, matured, and became very beautiful.
This says to us that on the day you were born, God looked down upon you and spoke to you a word. He told you to live. He continued to speak to you through all of the many family members who looked down upon you and believed that you, this little bundle of joy, was a blessing from God. All though your life, people who loved you tried to speak to you, and tell you how much they cared about you. They wanted to tell you just how special you were. This was the voice of God speaking to you.
Each and every day of our lives we wake up to the sound of nature all around us. This is the sound of life, a living and breathing world full of activity. There is the sound of the whistling wind blowing past our window pane. There is the sound of the rain beating upon our roof top. There is the sound of the rustling of the leaves as the wind blows. There is the sound of the buzzing bees, pollinating the flowers. There is the sound of your own breathing and the sound of your heart beating. This is the sound of life. This is the sound which invites you to come out of your shell and become part of the symphony of life. Each and every day, God gives you a very special invitation to come with Him. Each and every day God gives you a very special invitation to learn of Him through the work of His artistic hands upon the world all around you.
And then, there is also that still small voice which we find in the secret places of our heart. Can you hear Him speaking to you today? What is He saying to you? He telling you to find someone who is carrying a heavy burden, and help them to lift their load. He is telling you that the way of creation, it to take from creation. He is telling you that the way of creation is to give back to creation. He is telling you that when you were born, creation gave some part of itself in order to let you live. He is telling you that all the days of your life, you must thrive to give something back to the place of creation. He is telling you that one day when you breathe your last breath, you will finally give back to creation for the last time. He is telling you that the one person, who is really wealthy, is that person who has given much and taken little. When you give unto creation the melody of your heart, you have given unto creation. When you give unto creation an expression of humble appreciation, you have given unto creation. When you have given unselfishly of yourself, and asked of nothing for yourself, then you have given unto creation. He is telling you that when you have given unto creation your humble appreciation, you have giving unto creation.
I have heard it said that the only time a man should ever look down at anyone, is when he is reaching down to help them up. Then and only then, will you have heard the voice of God. Then and only then, will you have answered the voice of God.
Ever feel like you need to wear a mask to cover up who you are? Are you concerned that, if people knew who you really are and how you really felt, they wouldn't understand?
One minister, two jobs and the family that's at the top of the list. The number of bivocational ministers, those in full- or part-time ministry who carry an additional job, is estimated by some researchers to be as high as 30 percent of ministers nationwide.
"You should see the church they attend," Lucille said, armed with bulletin and newsletter. Creases formed across my brow as celebration gave way to comparisons a trap that had sprung too many times.
