Vision

— For the week of January 30, 2011 —

Visionary leadership will challenge the people of God.
— Talmadge Johnson

Where there is not vision, the people perish.
— Proverbs 29:18

Rick Warren led his great church from infancy to 10,000 in attendance — in 15 short years. How? Rick Warren is a visionary leader! By his own admission, "God gave me a vision to build a purpose-driven church."

Most pastors are not like Rick Warren. In fact, many pastors struggle with the so-called "vision" thing. But every pastor who is making a difference in his community has a sense of destiny that is driven by the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Vision is a key to making an impact for God in an unholy world.

Perhaps these simple steps will assist you in your search for a vision from God:

Spend time daily in prayer, asking God for the vision for your church or ministry.

Study the needs of your surrounding community or the people God has called you to reach.

Seek wise counsel from visionary leaders.

Examine your resources.

Accept what God reveals to you and share it with your followers.

Henrietta Mears once said, "There is no magic in small plans. When I consider my ministry, I think of the world. Anything less than that would not be worthy of Christ nor of His will for my life."

Think BIG! God does!
